Ireland agrees to share advanced air and ferry passenger data with UK

The Irish Government has agreed that advanced passenger data for people travelling from Ireland will be given to the UK.

The move comes in a bid to tighten up security after recent terrorist attacks, according to reports in today's media.

It will see UK authorities given details of all airline and ferry passengers intending to travel to Britain.

The UK will also provide the same information to Irish law enforcement agencies.

The Cabinet was informed of the new arrangements by Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald yesterday.
