Insurance costs remain biggest obstacle to car ownership

Over half of motorists (54%) say insurance costs are the biggest obstacle to affording a car.

40% say they are not satisfied with their current premium and almost half say they don't fully understand car finance options.

Half of those questioned by Carzone.ie say they intend to sell their car within the next year.

German car marques remain most popular among Irish motorists - Volkwagen, BMW and Audi are the top three.

Black is the most popular colour, followed by blue, silver and red.

Over three quarters searched for diesel models online last year.
