Voters don't like parties who say one thing and do another, warns FF's Éamon Ó Cuív
Fianna Fáil TD Éamon Ó Cuív said today that his party made a promise not to go into government with Fine Gael and they should stick to it.
Ó Cuív, a grandson of Fianna Fáil founder Éamon de Valera, said that the electorate do not take kindly to politicians who fail to keep their word.
A Fine Gael / Fianna Fáil coalition has been tipped to be the mostly likely outcome of the General Election.
However, Deputy Ó Cuív told Mid West Radio they have already ruled it out.
"We gave a promise, and when you give promises - stick to them," he said.
"I think the electorate don't take kindly to parties who say one thing and do another.
"And the result of the election was predictable but I'm a little bit surprised that the media only see one way of resolving the issues we're in and I think it's time we looked at the whole way the Dáil works, the whole relationship between parliament, or the Dáil, and Government."
