TD demands review of Garda station closures

A Government TD has called for a review of local garda stations which were closed in the past few years.
It follows a shooting a gangland shooting at a pub in Cabra in Dublin last night - in which a man in his 30s was killed.
Labour TD Joe Costello said that it may be time to review the closure of local garda stations around the country.
"We should look at the situation in terms of the manner in which crime has developed in the area, both in the urban area and the rural areas, and that it is time to review the existing policy where a number of garda stations were closed down," he said.
"The actual existence of a garda station in the area has, I believe, a deterrent effect itself, and I think it's time to look at the logistics again."
