Man dies in multi-vehicle accident

A man has died in a multi-vehicle collision in Co Galway.
It happened on the Headford and Glencorrib road earlier today.
It is understood a number of people have been taken to University Hospital Galway for treatment.
A section of the road between Headford town and Cross is closed, and local diversions are in place.
GALWAY/ MAYO: Headford/ Ballinrobe Rd (R334) remains closed until further notice between Headford and Cross following a serious collision.

The driver of the jeep, a woman was taken to Galway University Hospital where her injuries are described as serious.
A child passenger in the jeep was also taken to hospital for treatment.
The driver and three passengers of the other car were also taken to Galway University Hospital, their injuries are described as not-life threatening.
The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
