Residents facing 'uncertainty' as deadline passes to commit to remedial works on houses

Meath County Council can issue a fire safety notice on houses in Riverwalk Court in Ratoath from today.

The development needs more than €1.5m worth of fire safety work carried out.

Residents and the developer had until last Friday to commit to carrying out the remedial works.

Spokesperson for the residents, Mark Fitzmaurice, says they are facing into an uncertain Christmas.

He said: "The deadline was last Friday. We are going to review the submissions this week, so we don’t think we're going to hear from Meath County Council until at least the New Year, now.

"So the residents are facing into a Christmas with all this uncertainty hanging over their heads."
