Government given 10-point plan on ending child poverty
The Government has been handed a new 10-point plan to help end child poverty.
The strategy which draws on the expertise of 200 youth organisations from all over Ireland, calls for investment in education, housing, and childcare.
It also recommends safe-guarding social welfare payments for single parent families, increasing the dole for young job-seekers and hiking the minimum wage.
Campaigners have said the plan could half the numbers living in poverty over the next five years and completely eliminate the problem in 10.
