Council gets petition to stop holding concerts at Marlay Park after signing contract for next five years

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has been presented with a 2,500 strong petition against the holding of concerts in Marlay Park.

Residents of neighbouring housing estates, market traders and regular visitors to the park are among the signatories.

They are urging DLR County Council "to protect Marlay Park - its wildlife, habitats, flora and fauna" and calling on the council "to respect and protect local residents, park users and park employees".

It comes after the council signed a new contract, allowing concerts in Marlay Park for the next five years.

It will allow promoters MCD apply for a licence to stage up to six nights of concerts each summer.
