Gardaí investigating house fire and assault in Offaly make two arrests

A teenager and man in his 20's have been arrested in connection with an assault and a house fire in Rhode in Co Offaly in September.

The 17-year-old and a 27-year-old were detained in Westmeath and Offaly this morning after a 24-year-old was injured in an assault and a house fire in Rhode.

The man suffered extensive burn injuries following the fire at Cloncur on September 7.

He was also found to have suffered a number of stab wounds.

The two are being held at Tullamore and Mullingar Garda Stations.
