Gardaí investigating woman's disappearance 30 years ago start searching land in Galway

Gardaí are carrying out searches of premises and land in Co Galway as part of their investigation into the disappearance of a 33-year-old woman in 1985.

Gardaí are carrying out searches of premises and land in Co Galway as part of their investigation into the disappearance of a 33-year-old woman in 1985.

Barbara Walsh, who was married with a young family, was last seen at her home in Carna, Co Galway on June 22, 1985, and was reported missing seven days later.

A review of the case was launched last January, with a senior investigating officer appointed and an incident room established.

Around 60 people have been interviewed during the review.

The new searches are being concentrated at Rusheenamanagh, Carna.
