Govt to spend €60m on garda station refurbishments, including works on technical bureau

Thirty Garda stations across the country are to be refurbished.

The Departments of Justice and the OPW are investing €60m in the scheme.

Millions more will come from public private partnerships between 2016 and 2021.

In Dublin, a new Garda station will be opened at Dublin Airport, while refurbishment will be carried out at Santry and the Bridewell.

Officer of Public Works Minister, Simon Harris, says the Garda Technical Bureau is also being upgraded.

He said: "I'm also pleased to see that in Dublin we are going to see works at the Technical Bureau building at Garda Headquarters.

"This will rectify a number of issues that have arisen from past flooding and the likes in the bureau and will make a very positive impact to policing."
