Volkswagen Ireland executives set to face Transport Committee

Executives from Volkswagen Ireland will face a grilling from TDs and Senators today when the Transport Committee looks at the emissions scandal at the car maker.

It is thought up to 80,000 cars in Ireland are affected by the crisis across the VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat brands.

Although it is not known how many imported vehicles may also have the software installed.

The Society of the Irish Motor Industry will also address the Committee.

The Committee wants to find out why it happened and how Volkswagen intends to remedy the situation in Ireland.
