Unions and management return to talks tomorrow in effort to avert rail strike

Fresh talks aimed at averting Friday's industrial action by train drivers have been announced.

Both sides will attend talks tomorrow afternoon at the Workplace Relations Commission.

The negotiations will focus on productivity issues at the centre of the dispute.

Drivers who are members of the NBRU and SIPTU will stop working between 6-9am on Friday morning and on Friday November 6.

NBRU General Secretary Dermot O'Leary said: “We have accepted the invitation on the basis that the full complement of issues associated with the Productivity agenda, inclusive of previous contributions of train drivers will be addressed"

"There is an expectation from our members that their issues will be given the same consideration as those of the company."
