Irish playwright Brian Friel to be laid to rest today

Irish playwright Brian Friel will be laid to rest today in Co. Donegal.

He died at his home on Friday morning at the age of 86.

He is best known for his play Dancing At Lughnasa, which won three Tony Awards in 1992.

Friel is survived by his wife Anne and their five children.

He will be buried at Glenties Cemetery at 3pm this afternoon.
