Pair escape arrest by running across fields in Cavan

A search is underway in the Ballytrust area of Co Cavan after two men eluded gardaí in the area this morning.

A car with five men in it came to the attention of Gardaí around 9am.

They pursued the vehicle before finding it burnt out on the N55 between Corduff and Ballytrust.

Three men were arrested but two others escaped by running through fields.

Gardaí are liaising with their colleagues in the Police Service of Northern Ireland in case the men have crossed the border.
