One man has been seriously injured after falling off a cliff while fishing at Howth Head.

One man has been seriously injured after falling off a cliff while fishing at Howth Head.

The man slipped and fell around 10 metres while descending to rocks at Balscaden at around 4pm this afternoon.

A Coast Guard EMT administered medical care until the arrival of a paramedic from the Coast Guard helicopter.

The man, who suffered serious head injuries, was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital, where he is being treated.

In a separate incident, a tourist became trapped on a cliff near the Baily Lighthouse.

The uninjured man was taken to safety by a Coastguard rescue climber.
