Soprano Cara O'Sullivan to star at the Marymount University Hospital & Hospice Concert
International soprano Cara O'Sullivan, accompanied by the Band of An Garda Síochána, is the star attraction at the Marymount University Hospital & Hospice Concert at Cork Opera House on Saturday, October 17.
This concert coincides with the first Marymount University Hospital & Hospice International Conference on Palliative Care and Care of the Older Person, which takes place from October 15 to 17 and marks the close of the conference.
The concert will bring together the staff, the Friends of Marymount, volunteers, conference delegates, conference speakers, the Board of Directors and Religious Sisters of Charity and the people of Cork to celebrate 145 years of Marymount.
Marymount University Hospital & Hospice CEO, Sarah McCloskey, said: “The event commemorates the work of Marymount and its history, and enables the people of Cork to be part of its celebration. Marymount provides care for older persons and has a dedicated specialist palliative care services in the hospice, in the community and in daycare.”
The concert performers includes Cork's best-known international soprano Cara O' Sullivan, who has performed throughout Europe, the United States, Australia and The Band of An Garda Síochána.
Renowned sports broadcaster Ger Canning is the compère for what will be an evening of “great music”.

Dan Cowman, chairman of The Friends of Marymount said: “Fundraising at Marymount is required to raise substantial targets annually to maintain its current services. A dedicated team of 34 volunteers (The Friends of Marymount) must be credited with the fantastic work they do to achieve this fundraising target each year.”
