Gardaí in Dublin say a 44-year-old father who died in Tallaght on Thursday was not murdered.

Following a post mortem, officers are now investigating the matter as a violent disorder, assault and a public order incident.

Karl Holmes lost his life after being beaten during a fight in Avonbeg Gardens in Tallaght.

The post mortem revealed he had a pre-existing medical condition, and died of a heart attack.

It is understood the row broke out when one man became angry about a child riding a bicycle in the area. Mr Holmes arrived on the scene by car, but collapsed a short time later and died in hospital.

Anyone with any information is being asked to contact the Garda confidential line.
