Suspicious package sent to office of Minister Alan Kelly

Update 3pm: The Army Bomb Disposal team has declared the suspect package a hoax.

A suspicious package has been sent to the office of Environment Minister Alan Kelly in Tipperary.

The parcel arrived in the post this morning and when staff opened it they found some form of chemical substance, along with a note of a threatening nature.

They immediately contacted Nenagh gardaí, who then called in the Army Bomb Disposal Unit.

The scene has been sealed off.

It is also understood that staff are still in the building, although Minister Alan Kelly was not in the office at the time.
