Concern has again been raised about the planned location for the new national Children's Hospital.

The Government is set to announce more details later about its plans for the facility at St James' in Dublin city centre.

However the New Children's Hospital Alliance said the more logical location is at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, which will soon house the new Rotunda Maternity Hospital.

Spokesperson Jonathon Irwin said the 140-hectare site provided a huge opportunity.

"We now have such an opportunity - which we've never had in Ireland before - of having adult, children's and maternity hospitals on the same campus, and I think it gives us an enormous chance to create a campus of such international excellence," he said.
