A Catholic housing agency has refused to allow single or widowed elderly residents to put double beds in their state-funded apartments.

One-bed apartments in Fr Scully House in Dublin have single beds and residents have been told by the Catholic Housing Aid Society that they are not allowed to swap them for doubles, even if they pay for the new beds themselves.
