Unions execs to vote on Junior Cert reform plans

The executives of the secondary teaching unions meet today to vote on an agreement reached over reform of the Junior Cert.

Leaders of the ASTI and TUI unions agreed on Wednesday to a proposal with the Department of Education to resolve the ongoing dispute, which has seen two strike days.

The Junior Cert will stay more or less the same with state certification - although there will be some elements of in-class assessment.

The unions will take the agreed proposal to their executives today and the Department of Education will meet with education stakeholders.
