Fires in Limerick City
By David Raleigh
A large crowd gathered last night in Limerick City Centre after a number of vehicles went up in flames.
Two cars and a van were destroyed by the fire which is believed to have spread from one of the cars.
Thick black plumes of smoke could be seen over the city after the fire broke out in front of a block of flats off Parnell Street at approximately 7.30pm.
Gardaí closed off the area as a large group of people had gathered to watch the fire as it spread.
There are no reports of any injuries.
Three units of Limerick City Fire Service were dispatched to the scene to put out the blaze.
Gardaí are investigating the cause of the fire.
