125 jobs announced in Waterford at Bausch + Lomb

125 new jobs are on the way for Waterford.

Health company Bausch + Lomb is creating the roles as part of a €75m investment in manufacturing capacity at its plant in the city.

The contact lens maker expects the new jobs to be in place by the end of 2017. The company currently employs 1,000 people in Waterford.

Construction is due to be completed at the site by the end of 2016, with the creation of 150 construction jobs during the process.

Last year, the company sought 200 redundancies from their workforce and a salary cut of 7.5%.

Following staff voting in favour of the agreement, 50 jobs were announced in November.
