Emergency services deal with Roscommon gorse fire

Emergency services are at the scene of a gorse fire in Roscommon.

The blaze is understood to have taken hold this afternoon just outside Castlerea on the main road to Cloonbonniff.

The road is now closed and motorists are being asked to use an alternative route.

Gardaí have said the route could be closed for a number of hours as members of the fire service attempt to get the scene under control.
