Water-charges protesters can't bin bills - not enough have received them

Organisers of the next major demonstration against Irish Water have encountered an unexpected problem.

Organisers of the next major demonstration against Irish Water have encountered an unexpected problem.

Protestors are being asked to bring their Irish Water bills to the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin to put them in the bin.

But it seems the protest could be disrupted - because too few people have yet received their bills.

Socialist TD Ruth Coppinger said organisers would have to come up with an alternative.

"On Saturday, we may have to have mock bills, so people can practice what they'll do when the real bill does come," she said.

"Most people haven’t received their bills. It has been very, very slow, certainly in the Dublin West area."

Saturday's protest will start at 2pm in the Garden of Remembrance.
