Gardaí arrest man after accident leaves motorcyclist in hospital

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a crash in Cavan yesterday which has left a motorcyclist in a serious condition in hospital.

The collision - between a car and the motorbike - happened on the Cavan by-pass at around 5pm.

The motorcyclist - a 44-year-old man - was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where his condition is described as serious.

The driver of the car - a 24-year-old man - was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He is being held at Cavan Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
