Electric Ireland to reduce gas prices

Electric Ireland is to reduce prices for its residential gas customers.

The company says its standard unit price will fall by 2.5% from April 1, meaning a reduction in bills of 2.1% on average.

The move will affect around 130,000 Electric Ireland gas customers.

The Commissioner for Energy Regulation was asked on Wednesday to explain today why fuel increases kick in faster than reductions on our gas and electricity bills.
