Gardaí seize €30k of cannabis in two separate house raids

Gardaí have seized around €30,000 worth of cannabis herb and arrested two men in Co Westmeath.

Gardai searched a house at Marlinstown, Mullingar yesterday afternoon and found the cannabis herbwith an estimated street value of up to €10,000.

Two men in their 50’s arrested and drug paraphernalia was also seized.

In a follow-up search last night at a house in Streamstown, Co. Westmeath, gardaí seized more cannabis herb, this time with an estimated street value of up to €20,000, along with a large quantity of cash.

One of the men arrested was released without charge late last night and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The second man is still being held under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Athlone Garda Station.
