A former Cork city councillor has pleaded guilty to three charges of soliciting to murder a revenue commissioner official, an accountant and a detective garda.

A former Cork city councillor has pleaded guilty to three charges of soliciting to murder a revenue commissioner official, an accountant and a detective garda.

Former Fianna Fáil councillor Gary O'Flynn of Hayfield Drive, Castlecourt, Whitechurch is appearing before Cork Circuit Criminal Court today.

He pleaded guilty to soliciting Roy McCarthy to murder accountant Patrick McSweeney, Revenue official George Ross and Detective Garda Mary Skeehan.

The three charges are for dates unknown between October 1, 2012 and February 15, 2013, at the Mallow Road in Cork.

He pleaded guilty to all three charges.

The case is continuing.

2pm UPDATE: His legal team applied to have him remanded on bail until the next sessions in April, but the State objected to him being granted bail.

The bail hearing is currently underway.
