VIDEO: Man found dead in Co Cork died from internal injuries
A man found dead in Cork at the weekend is believed to have died from internal injuries.
Detectives are treating the death of 36-year-old Peter Murphy as suspicious and have appealed for information.
A post mortem was carried out at Cork University Hospital yesterday, after he was discovered at his rented home in Shanavoher near Mallow on Saturday.
A neighbour raised the alarm with gardaí after they called to the house and saw there was no sign of Mr Murphy.
He was expected to be there and when one of the neighbours saw that one of the windows had been cracked they checked the house, and saw what they thought was a body on the ground floor.
The gardaí were notified, paramedics attended and Mr Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene.
His remains were transferred to Cork University Hospital, and a post mortem determined that Mr Murphy died from internal injuries.
A forensic investigation of the house is now underway, and Gardaí are trying to trace his last known movements.
They are appealing to anyone who may have seen Peter Murphy or heard from him between Thursday afternoon and Saturday to come forward.
