New process for state board appointments to be launched

The new process for appointments to state boards is to be launched this morning.

Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin will also introduce the new website stateboards.ie at a breakfast event in Dublin.

Under the new process, Ministers will still hold the legal authority to make the actual appointments, but appointees will be drawn from a list of qualified candidates.

The system will be administered by the Public Appointments Service.
