The group which runs Portiuncula Hospital is operating a helpline for all users of its maternity services who may have concerns after a review identified "apparent deficiencies" in the care of seven babies.

The helpline, which is running this weekend, was set up after it emerged that two babies died and five others were deprived of oxygen during birth at the Ballinasloe hospital last year.
