Minister refuses to rule out more referendums this year

A Labour Minister has said that no decision has been made on whether more referendums could be held this year.

Alex White said that only two referendums will be held before summer - but has opened the door for more to be held in the autumn.

His comments come after Enda Kenny said he was "unlikely" to hold more votes after the two referendums planned for May.

Minister White says issues like lowering the voting age could still be addressed.

"I wouldn't be critical of the Taoiseach or anyone else in saying: 'Look we're not going to have a lot of time'," he said.

"But I don't think that we should give up on the prospect of holding further referendums, and the Government has not, in fact, done so, because we haven’t discussed in in Government yet and no decision has been made."
