Man charged after pair break into elderly woman's house on Christmas Eve

A man has been charged with the aggravated burglary of a 96-year-old woman in Waterford on Christmas Eve.

Sean Gaffeny (aged 23), with an address at St. John's Park Waterford, was charged in connection with the incident at a special sitting of Waterford District Court yesterday evening.

The pensioner was woken by two men in her house in John's Hill at around 3am on December 24.

She was uninjured and the men got away with a small amount of cash.

Mr Gaffeny was released on bail to appear again at Waterford District Court on January 20.
