ATM hands out 'free' cash, but the bank is on the case

An ATM machine in county Mayo spewed out extra cash to excited shoppers during the week - but Ulster Bank is warning it will be in contact with customers to retrieve the money.

The Irish Daily Mirror reports that card holders walked off with extra funds for Christmas shopping - after the ATM in Claremorris started giving out 50 euro notes instead of 20's.

The word soon spread and a queue formed down the street, as the machine spat out thousands of euro in a short period.

But the unexpected bonus won't last, as Ulster Bank says it's aware of the error which happened on Thursday, and will be in contact with the affected customers.
