Teachers' strike will go ahead in January, unions warn

Industrial action by secondary school teachers scheduled for January 22 will go ahead unless a solution is found, unions have warned.

The row over the marking of Junior Cert exam papers has already seen teachers hold a strike earlier this month.

ASTI general secretary Pat King says if their concerns are addressed, next month's action will be called off.

"If we find a solution, there'll be no action," he said.

"So the key is in finding a solution that protects education, protects education standards, and addresses our concerns."
