Pedestrian hit and killed by car in Sligo

An 86-year-old pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Sligo this evening.

The woman was crossing the Bundoran Road outside the town at 6.40pm when she was struck.

She was removed to Sligo Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Investigations into the accident are ongoing and the road is closed to traffic.
