UAE recalls ambassador after women claim unfair working conditions

The United Arab Emirates has recalled its ambassador to Ireland following a ruling from the Employment Appeals Tribunal.

Three women from the Philippines who worked for the ambassador were awarded €80,000 each last week after they told the tribunal they worked 15-hour days, seven days a week for less than €2 an hour.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said it takes the matter seriously, and has recalled Khalid Lootah while it investigates the issue further.
