Families from Republic in Stormont to discuss alleged garda wrongdoings
A group of families from the Republic are in Stormont Castle in Belfast today to raise awareness of their plight into alleged garda wrong doing.
The families will be accompanied by Garda whistleblower John Wilson during their campaign, during which they will highlight alleged garda wrongdoing which is being taken to the European Parliament and United Nations.
The families say they have been unable to get a meeting with Taoiseach Enda Kenny to discuss their claims that gardaí failed to investigate a number of deaths properly.
"The Taoiseach won't meet us here, and the political parties there are very keen to meet us. It's all one country, it's Ireland - they're very keen to meet us, [and] we're a victim of injustice," said Lucia O'Farrell, whose son was killed by a hit-and-run driver in County Monaghan in 2011.
