Jack Lynch Tunnel closure to be raised Cork City Council meeting

Senior City Management are expected to raise the issue of the weekend's closure of the Jack Lynch Tunnel at a Cork City Council meeting tonight.
The closure of the northbound side, for what was described as urgent repairs, caused traffic chaos in the city with the Jazz Festival taking place.
The works had been planned for weeks and were advertised, but led to traffic chaos from around lunchtime on Saturday - including a 90-minute tailback on Saturday afternoon.
A spokesman for the project said the manholes could have been at risk of collapse if the repairs were not carried out soon and were vital for safety reasons.
