Tell your children you love them, says father of Cork crash victim

A couple whose 19-year-old son was killed in a car crash two weeks ago have appealed to families to take time to say 'I love you' to each other.

Robbie Steele died on October 3 after a two-car crash just half a mile from his home in Midleton in Co Cork on October 3.

His parents Aileen and Ollie say they are so grateful that they always told him how much he meant to them.

They are appealing to other families to take the time to express their feelings.

"I heard that thing on the radio as I was driving along, ironically I was going up so see him above in the graveyard to have a chat with him, and I just heard those conversations they were having with people that they never told their children that they loved them," he said on the The Ray Darcy Show on Today FM.

"And I came home to Aileen, I said: 'Aileen, it's an awful pity that people just don't turn around to their children - whether they're five, 15, 25, 55 - and just say 'I love you' to their face."
