Gardaí to examine scene of fatal overnight car crash

A garda forensic team in Galway are to carry out an examination of the scene of a fatal two-car crash.

A man in his 30s, who was a passenger in the car, died when it and another car were in collision on the Kilconnell Rd at Nutfield Cross just outside Ballinasloe at around 8.35pm last night.

The female driver is in Portiuncula hospital with serious injuries.

The male and female occupants in the second car are being treated for their injuries, described as not life-threatening, also at Portiuncula Hospital .

The road remains closed this morning to facilitate the examination.
