Fourteen councils lower Property Tax rate for 2015
Fourteen councils have reduced their Property Tax rates for next year, which will save more than a million homeowners a total of €45m.
Six councils have chosen to reduce the tax by the maximum of 15%, including Dublin City Council, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, Fingal, South Dublin, Clare and Wicklow County Councils.
The other eight local authorities reduced the property tax by 10% or less.
New figures from Revenue show 94% of homeowners paid the tax this year, down from 95% in 2013, and there were 400 referrals to the sheriff to collect the tax after non-payment this year.
