The trial of an Irish man accused of murdering a fellow Irish man, gets underway in Australia today.

A court in Australia has heard how a Dublin man accused of murder was part of a group who had attended a drug-fuelled party.

21-year-old Kenny Meyler from Wexford died after being stabbed at a house in Perth in February 2013.

Yesterday, 33-year-old Vincent Martin Crowe tried to enter a plea of manslaughter, but that was rejected by the prosecution.

Rebecca LeMay with the Australian Associated Press in Perth was in court today:

The group had consumed a substance known as "meow meow" - or Mephedrone - and the court was told that Crowe had also consumed ecstasy at a nightclub that day.
