The Health and Safety Authority has begun an investigation into the death of a woman on her family farm in County Roscommon.

60 year old Lucy O’Connor died as a result of an accident on her family farm in Kilrooskey.

Her death brings to 22 the number of people who have died on farm related deaths in the country so far this year.

Lucy O’Connor died after an accident on her family farm in Tuam, Kilrooskey yesterday afternoon.

It's believed the 60-year-old mother of five was injured by cattle when she was out on the farm, and died soon after.

The girlfriend of one of Mrs O’Connor’s sons tried to help and was also injured; she’s being treated in hospital.

The Health and Safety Authority has been notified of Mrs O’Connor’s death and is carrying out an investigation.

The HSA says her death bring to 22 the number of people who have died on farm related deaths so far this year.
