Water charge protesters accused of 'regrettable violence' by meter installers

A company employed to install water meters has claimed in the High Court that its workers are at risk due to allegedly violent protests in North Dublin.

Lawyers for water meter installers GMC Siera claim they have video evidence showing "regrettable violence" by anti water charge protesters in Dublin 5, Dublin 9 and Dublin 13.

Barrister Jim O'Callaghan told the court there are concerns employees installing the meters are at risk.

A court order is being sought by the company ex parte (on a one-side-only basis) thought to be aimed at restraining any interference with their installation work.

However, the court may not have time to hear the case until Monday.
