Dublin sees biggest increase in rental prices (10.5%)

New figures show rents are continuing to rise around the country.

The latest figures from the Private Residential Tenancies Board show private rents in Dublin have seen a 10.5% increase year-on-year.

House rents are up by 8.5%, while Dublin apartment rent levels have risen by 12.1%.

Outside of Dublin the increases have been more modest.

Director of the Private Residential Tenancies Board Anne Marie Caulfield said: "The monthly increases outside of Dublin in the past year are 2.6% which would mean a house on average would cost €648 per month to rent, and an apartment €640."

Rents for houses nationally are still 22% lower than they were at the peak in 2007.
