Security review after man found asleep in hospital maternity ward
Security at the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise has been reviewed after a man was found asleep in a maternity ward bed, it has emerged.
Staff were alerted to the incident in the early hours of Saturday, August 16th.
The man was not a patient at the hospital.
The HSE says a small number of patients were disturbed while sleeping, and the Gardaí were called to the scene.
The hospital has apologised to all patients who witnessed the incident, and says it has now reviewed security measures for the entire campus.
