Service helps almost 200 tenants avoid eviction

More than a quarter of families who contacted a new helpline over fears of losing their homes have been able to stay in their accommodation.
The Tenancy Protection service is operated by housing charity Threshold, and has taken over 1,700 calls since it opened in July.
Some 740 of those related to tenants who feared being put out of their private rented accommodation in the Dublin region.
According to the Irish Times, 191 of them were able to stay on after seeking assistance through the helpline.
An estimated 300 families have become homeless in Dublin since January.
